The Playwright

In his work as a playwright, Peter Snoad draws on his experience of two cultures: the U.K., where he was born and raised, and the U.S., where he has lived since 1977. Peter’s plays have been produced throughout the U.S., and in Canada, the U.K., Australia and Singapore.

Honors include the Stanley Drama Award and the Arthur W. Stone New Play Award for Guided Tour; nominations for Best New Play (Small Stage) by the Independent Reviewers of New England and 2015 Best New Work by ArtsImpulse for The Draft; and playwriting fellowships from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.

Peter has twice won the New Play Festival of Centre Stage–South Carolina (with Guided Tour and Identity Crisis). In 2013/14, Peter was Visiting Playwright at Hibernian Hall, a multicultural performing arts center in Roxbury, Massachusetts, that staged four of his full-length plays including The Draft.  A recovering actor, Peter is a proud member of The Dramatists Guild of America.
